What’s the second most useful life skill you can give your pupils in 2019/20?

Talking to a teacher recently, she said that learning to type was the most useful skill she ever learned – apart from driving.  Yet around 85% of schools are not providing their pupils with any keyboard skills training.

At Type&Test, we have specialised in interactive online keyboard skills training for children and adults for almost 15 years.  Our training and assessment tools deliver high success rates and are the only ones approved by Awarding Bodies to support optional national keyboard skills qualifications.

Through our ‘Total’ managed solution, available until 31st July at a massively reduced price of just £250 plus VAT (normally £950), we’ll provide online access for an unlimited number of pupils in your school to a fun engaging and effective typing training and assessment system.  And we’ll do everything for you, from enrolments to user support and provide all the usage and progress data you want!

We can even provide an optional national typing qualification at Levels 1 and 2 (additional candidate registration fees apply).

Click here to find out exactly what’s included in our ‘Total’ package.

Try Before you Buy!

Click the links below to see a free sample lesson from our courses.  You don’t need a user name or password – just click on the ‘sample lesson’ tab and wait a few seconds for your sample lesson to launch.

Order now for a one-year licence for the 2019/20 academic year!

Want typing training only for a few pupils?  Or interested in ordering a licence for longer than one year?  Then contact us for prices.

For orders placed by 31st July, we are offering this complete package for a staggeringly low price of just £250 plus VAT, a huge £700 reduction off our normal list price.  Click here to place your order!

If you have any questions you want to ask first, please email enquiries@typeandtest.com or phone me, Andy Stevenson, on 017683 42821 – I’ll be happy to help.

What is the most effective way of teaching computer science to a mixed ability class?

Both teachers and students love the idea of using robots in their lessons.  As human beings we have always been fascinated with robots – the beings that have arms and legs and look somewhat like humans, but clearly are not.  Literature and films find a rich vein of stories involving robots too, which many of us have grown up with.

Being so deeply ingrained in our psyche it is no surprise that pupils and students are always fascinated by lessons that allow them to build their own robots.

To make it easier and more affordable to bring robots into your classroom we have designed a range of hands on robotics workshops. We bring all of the equipment to you and have a range of fun themes to choose from: including robot wars, robot farming and maze solving.

Students are encouraged to learn by doing and trying out their own ideas. They are given plenty of guidance when needed, but at the same time we tend not to “teach from the front”. We like to give students the opportunity to be creative and make their own mistakes.

We are currently offering an extra hour free for a half day booking, which is £300.

Or a free Arduino board with a full day booking for £400.

(Please note some travel expenses may apply depending on which area you are in, please get in touch for details.)

If you are interested, please hurry as we can only run this offer until the end of May 2018. We are nearly fully booked for the summer and are now also taking bookings for the new academic year.

What is a fun way to bring your computing curriculum to life and really engage and inspire all of your students?

I’ve often heard colleagues in schools suggest how difficult it can be to teach computing and to keep their students engaged.

Often there is a large range of ability in the class, from the very bright students who have made raspberry pi weather stations in their back gardens, right through to those who struggle to grasp the basics.

Despite these challenges, both teachers and students love the idea of using robots in their lessons.  Anything that can move around, flash lights, and play sounds will help bring topics to life. Unfortunately, due to lack of funds and time it isn’t always possible for schools to purchase and use their own robotics kits.

What is one of the most effective ways to create an engaging and differentiated computing lesson?

I’ve often heard colleagues in schools suggest how difficult it can be to teach computing and to keep their students engaged.

Often there is a large range of ability in the class – from the very bright students, who have made raspberry pi weather stations in their back yards, right through to those who struggle to grasp the basics.

I’ve worked with some teachers who get around this problem by working with students in a lunchtime or an after school club. But this requires more time, resources, and preparation.

Despite these challenges, both teachers and students love the idea of using robots in their lessons.  Anything that can move around, flash lights, and play sounds will help bring topics to life.

I think many colleagues agree that robots and physical computing helps to engage students. It also makes it easier to differentiate for different abilities because students can start with simple robots or projects and move on as and when they are ready.

To make it easier and more time efficient to introduce physical computing we have created an online learning space. This online space allows students to keep track of their progress and takes them from beginner level to building a real robot with sensors.

The first part is FREE. It introduces the popular arduino board and shows you how to light up an LED. You will then have some fun challenges to complete.

If you like the course and would like to upgrade to the full version, please use code: ZTeach1 for a 25% discount.

Beat the Price Increases on Interactive Touchscreens

There comes a time with all technology when more modern equipment supersedes it. Years ago we used blackboards with chalk. Several generations later we were using Interactive whiteboards (IWB) with projectors. Believe it or not these have been in circulation in schools for around twenty years.  However time moves on and schools are now moving over to Interactive Touchscreens (ITS). These have all the benefits of IWBs plus many more:

  • Use up to 75% less power
  • Crystal clear viewing in any light conditions
  • Useable in any rooms and are not wall dependent
  • No shadows
  • No need for unsightly projector fittings

There are several brands of ITS on the market but only one is so confident of its product that it offers a warranty of up to Seven Years. GeneeWorld offers a warranty on all its touchscreens of between five and seven years.

Genee is already a world renowned  brand in the education market as the leader in visualiser technology. They have used this knowledge of classroom technology and interactivity to design a board that can not only interact with legacy software, but has its own bespoke Spark software for giving you the very best results. To watch a 12 minute video of these products go to http://www.arkel.co.uk/genee

Arkel Computer Services is an Accredited Geneeworld partner and can offer you best prices for all Genee products. If you have a requirement for an ITS, visualiser or any other Genee product please call Arkel on 01858 432495 or contact sales@arkel.co.uk

Whilst current stock lasts, prices of Interactive Touch Screens start from £1299.

However, for your guidance we have listed the price of some of the more popular products below:

G-Touch Slim 55” Classic £1299

G-Touch Slim 65” Classic: £1896

Larger Screens are also available from 70” up to 86”. Prices on application.

We also offer a full installation and fitting service in your area. Please call 01858 432495 for prices which will vary according to quantity and size of the boards.

How IT skills help autistic students

Why is it that some autistic students respond so well to learning IT skills – and how can we use this to help them?

For many years Cambridge University’s Autism Research Centre has been studying the established link between parents working in hi-tech, scientific and mathematical industries and an increased incidence of children on the autism spectrum.

As a result of this research more and more IT companies in the UK and beyond have actively begun recruiting an autistic workforce for its highly technical and concentration skills.

Of course, while such a life may only be relevant to some autistic students, many autism experts agree with Professor Grandin at Colorado State University, herself autistic, who believes that without “the gifts of autism” there would probably be no Nasa or IT industry.

The fact is that very many autistic students can benefit from being able to work in an IT environment. As Richard Mills, director of Research Autism, said, “The computer age totally changes the world of autism.”

Indeed researchers at Nottingham University and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh have found that people with autism value the increased control over their interactions that is afforded by the filter of a computer screen.

In short, they can observe interactions, choose when to be sociable, and make contact with other people who have autism.

Presenting information visually in the precise and predictable computer format suits the autistic mind, says Baron Cohen, and can provide “a tool or platform for developing further skills”.   And, of course, it is a tool that helps them to take control of their adult lives.

It is to help students on the autism spectrum benefit in their move towards adulthood that SEN Press has developed a series of Value Packs which include whiteboard resources, worksheets, readers and a CD Rom of our ebooks.

Each pack is based on a theme of key benefit to autistic pupils such as Work Experience, Making Sense of Money, Relationships, etc.  As a result the students gain two benefits – the growth in their own confidence and ability that can arise as a result of working with IT, while at the same time benefiting from the subject being studied.

Full details of all our Value Pack on Teen Issues Work Experience and Making Sense of Moneycan be found by clicking the link to our website.

How can schools create a manageable computing journey at Key Stage 2 when there are so many free tools to use?

In the run up to the launch of the new computing curriculum, as well as after it was phased in, there was a collective intake of breath from teachers up and down the country as they absorbed what it all meant.

For many teachers the notion of writing and debugging programs or explaining simple algorithms was well beyond their every-day experience and certainly not in their training.

Fortunately at the time there was already a string of free web based tools out there to use and a couple of these have proved really successful like Scratch from MIT & Daisy the Dinosaur.

Thankfully, it also seems sometimes that many children tend to be a little more fearless with technology – a strength when it comes to Computing!

With all the free tools that some school enthusiasts started to champion it soon became apparent that while they were free there was little if any support or influence on how products developed – how could there be if the tool was free?

The result for some schools has been a bird’s nest of logins for different tools, varying user interfaces, unreliable work saving and patchy levels of school service. Factors like these undermine teacher confidence who just want it to work. Schools love saving money but when the cost is not having a reliable learning environment then its surely too high.

The mission at Blippit has been to get key elements of the computing curriculum under one roof and to help develop curious learners through authentic learning – even to the point of publishing apps (with the teacher’s approval) on our free app store, Planet Blippit.

Blippit IO, through its powerfully simple tools, opens the door to computational thinking, logical reasoning and unexpectedly – writing.  You can use our templates or just create your own.

To try Blippit IO for your school just visit us here and if you decide that Blippit IO would serve your schools needs you can upgrade here.

If you have any questions or queries about Blippit IO please do call 01772 657 100 or email support@blippit.co.uk  John Bidder

Learning to type is no longer an option, it’s essential.

Learning to type is now an essential skill for today’s school pupils.  With the use of computers in schools increasing and computer-based exams an inevitability waiting to happen, typing is a skill that should no longer be overlooked.

By learning to touch type, your pupils will be able to work much more quickly and accurately whilst increasing their ability to focus on the subject matter rather than the mechanics of using the keyboard.  And by keeping their eyes firmly on their computer screen when they type, they will avoid damaging long-term neck and upper back injuries caused by constantly looking down at the keyboard.

With ‘Typequick for Students’ and its sister program ‘Typequick Professional’ for older children, at Type&Test Ltd we offer highly effective and engaging ‘cloud-based’ touch-typing training available to all your pupils, anytime, anywhere.

Containing up to 60 hours of content, your pupils will never run out of fresh practice material.  With our easy-to-use and comprehensive progress tracking software, included with every order, you will be able to monitor their progress whether they use the course at home or in school.

Our Annual Licence scheme is amazingly cost-effective.  For as little as 50p per head (that’s less than 1p per hour!), or even less for our unlimited user licence, each of your pupils can have access to their own personalised course for up to a year.

For more information, email enquiries@typeandtest.com using the subject line ‘annual licence’ and we will send you a link to our electronic brochure.  Or call 01480 861867, or visit www.typeandtest.com.  To make an enquiry via our web site, click here.

Choosing the best chair for the IT department can be easier than you might think …….

Postura+Plus+IT+chair-

Designed to provide excellent lumbar support as well as comfort, the Postura Plus IT chair has a FIVE year warranty and is available with either castors or glides. Depending on which option you choose the seat height range is: 358-468 mm (glides) or 383-493 mm (castors).

There’s a great range of 15 different colours to choose from…..ideal if you are looking to match with new décor or for multiple rooms in your IT suite.

The Postura Plus IT chair is available from Central Educational Supplies at very competitive prices. Full details are on their website:

How can schools deliver a manageable computing journey at Key Stage 3 when there are so many free tools to use?

In the run up to the launch of the new computing curriculum, as well as after it was phased in, there was a collective intake of breath from teachers up and down the country as they absorbed what it all meant.

For many teachers the notion of writing and debugging programs or explaining simple algorithms was well beyond their every-day experience and certainly not in their training.

Thankfully at the time there was already a string of free web based tools out there to use and a couple of these have proved really successful like Scratch, Kodu & Minecraft.

The mission at Blippit has been to get key elements of the computing curriculum under one roof and to help develop curious learners through authentic learning – even to the point of publishing project apps made with our App Maker (with the teacher’s approval) on our free app store, Planet Blippit.

Blippit IO, through its powerful and open-ended tools, give teachers the control they need to deliver a tailor made curriculum for their school while not compromising on promoting computational thinking, logical reasoning and (unexpectedly) writing in the wider curriculum.

Save hours of your valuable time, boost your productivity and reduce stress.

These days you probably find yourself spending more and more time at the computer, answering emails, producing typed documents for various purposes and exploring the internet.  It seems that most teachers now use a keyboard more often than a pen.

Yet, like many UK employees, the majority of teachers have never learned to type properly.  Do you struggle along, prodding away with just two fingers and with your head down?  If so, you will be typing at only about half your potential speed and probably with low levels of accuracy.

With such heavy workloads, wasting valuable time through poor typing skills is inefficient and costly and increases stress.

Type&Test are the UK’s leading specialists in touch-typing training and assessment.  Our online learning programmes are the only ones recommended by Awarding Bodies such as the BCS and the SQA, having been used over the past nine years to prepare learners of all ages for national typing qualifications.

Our unique ‘Type Faster, Work Smarter’ course is guaranteed to significantly increase your typing speed whilst maintaining or improving your accuracy.  The outcome will be that you will increase your output, gain more time, work more productively and reduce your levels of work-related pressure.

Involving a structured interactive online programme, with support from an experienced Type&Test tutor who will communicate with you regularly via email, messaging and skype, you will gain invaluable touch-typing skills through short regular practice sessions which you will complete at times that fit around your busy working day.  After just a few weeks – around the length of a school term – we guarantee that your typing skills will improve significantly or we will refund your course fee in full.

For more information please email enquiries@typeandtest.com with the subject line ‘Type Faster, Work Smarter’ and we will email you our programme flier.  Click here for information from our website.  Or if you want to have a chat about it with no obligation then call Andy Stevenson on 01480 861867.

The complete online touch-typing training service for schools

A survey conducted by the Chartered Institute for IT a few years ago revealed that most schools – over 80% – thought that it was important to teach children how to touch type.  Yet the survey revealed that only around 15% of schools actually did so.

The same survey showed that, on average, secondary school children were using a computer for around 3 hours every school day.

Today, computers are being used in schools even more often, and with computer-based exams an inevitability waiting to happen, typing skills have never been more important.

So why do so many schools steer clear of offering any touch-typing training for their pupils?

At Type&Test, typing training is our business.  We speak to many schools and most say that whilst they recognise that learning to type is important and beneficial, they don’t have the timetable space or the teaching resources for it. And of course it is not presently included in the National Curriculum.

So to help, we have decided to offer schools a complete solution that handles everything for them.

Called ‘Total Typequick’ it provides a total service, all delivered remotely, including the enrolment of pupils, through to the monitoring of progress, handling of queries and the final completion of assessments leading to the award of a certificate customised for your school.

We’ll provide you regular reports on progress, and you will have access to the progress tracking software that is included if you want to see how things are going for yourself.  Otherwise there is nothing for the school to do other than to encourage pupils to use the course as often as possible, at home or in spare time at school.

For more information, email enquiries@typeandtest.com using the subject line ‘Total Typequick’ and we will send you a link to our electronic brochure and our Price List.  Or call 01480 861867, or visit www.typeandtest.com.  To make an enquiry via our web site, click here.

Understanding the issue of extremism and the PREVENT Duty in schools

The internet brings marvellous opportunities to children and young people with the ability to learn new skills and visit websites which engage and enrich their lives.

However, the internet also brings dangers such as online predators, who will try and contact children through websites and software applications.

The new resources available from E-safety Support will guide pupils, parents and teachers through the topic, helping identify the issue of online radicalisation and giving suggestions on how to protect against the threat of online extremism.

The resources were developed by Tim Pinto, member of the Educational Advisory Board for CEOP and experienced educational e-safety consultant.

Solidworks Projects for KS3 and KS4

This resource will enable pupils to become familiar and competent at using ‘SolidWorks’ CAD software.

They will use CAD (Solidworks) to develop their designs solution and be aware of the many advantages and dis-advantages that such software has in the real world.

This book contains a number of projects suitable for Key Stage 3 and as a revision guide for pupils in Key stage 4. It allows pupils to quickly get up to speed with using such a complex piece of software and, most importantly, allows them to become competent in designing better products.

Pupils will become familiar with the range of sketch tools and features available. They will be shown step by step how to build a Frisbee, Lego Block, Memory pen, IPOD Nano and a Digital camera. They will also be shown how to assemble parts step-by-step.

The resource also includes two further projects to extend your pupils’ skills – building a Die and a Child’s Stacking Toy. After completing all seven projects they should be able to create something by themselves using the skills they have learnt from the book.

Solidworks Projects for KS3 and KS4 is published as a download so that you can receive immediately a copy onto your computer which you can print out for colleagues as often as you want.  You can also put it on your school learning platform so all members of your department can access the document.  YOu can view sample pages at http://www.pdf.firstandbest.co.uk/authordownloadsamples/T1781samples.pdf

You can obtain Solidworks Projects for KS3 and KS4 by going to http://shop.firstandbest.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=76_114&products_id=754

The price is £10 plus VAT (the VAT can be reclaimed in most cases by the school).

If we want to encourage student reading, we need to offer them a way of reading in keeping with their daily lives.

According to Android, the creators of the mobile phone system that most people use, the average person checks their mobile phone nine times an hour.

Of course statistics like these are always dubious, but given that the figure came from data collected by Android directly from users, it is probably near the truth.

It is a figure that adds weight to the notion that there are a lot of young people for whom the mobile has become the centre point of life.

All of which points to the fact that if one is trying to encourage secondary school pupils and students to do something, if the task can be related to their phone, they are more likely to do it, because the phone is so central to their lives.

Thus if we take the notion of reading, if the student can read a book on the phone, there is an ever greater chance that it will be read.

This is a key reason as to why ePlatform has become so popular with schools.  For students, it is like having the library in their hand, available 24 hours a day.

ePlatform offers more than 350,000 titles including the latest UK and international best sellers and Collection Builder compilations (lists of most borrowed titles in schools like yours) for easy collection development.

In short ePlatform puts reading into the heart of students lives, making books instantly available, as those born since the digital revolution expect.

There are also many additional features to make reading easier for those with dyslexia and other reading challenges.  Students can vary the font, background colour, look up the meaning of unfamiliar words and use internet links to learn more.

ePlatform is also the most affordable eLending solution on the market, so you can spend more of your budget on eBooks, not hosting.

Of course being digital it also means that there is no question of damage to books, no loss of books, no concern about unreturned books.  Everything is set to encourage students to read more.

The easiest way to explore this development which is changing students’ perception of libraries and reading is to book a personal webinar demonstration either:

●       By phone on 07971 661782
●       By email on: Rachel@eplatform.co
●       Or by visiting www.eplatform.co

Some charging lockers are more suitable for use in secondary schools than others.

Not all charging lockers are suitable for all situations, and there’s no doubt that secondary schools do have very particular requirements when it comes to such equipment.

Which is why we will be at the BETT Show in January at Excel London, on Stand G419, so that if you are at the Show you’ll be able to see exactly what I mean.  (More details at the end of this email.)

But, of course, I appreciate not everyone can get to the show, so I’ll explain further.

Charging lockers such as our LapLockers and BeSmart Lockers have been designed with schools in mind to include safety, security, and accessibility features that resolve the problems that you may well have to consider when it comes to charging and storing the school’s laptops.

And, of course, safety is always a top priority. Which is why our LapLockers have a multiplicity of safety features that go way beyond the legal requirements for charging lockers used in the workplace.

Indeed, these safety features aren’t just limited to electrical safety – our LapLockers, for example, are coated in anti-bacterial powder to reduce the spread of bacteria that populate the typical school setting.

What’s more, given that 43% of school crimes are thefts, our LapLockers have been designed to be particularly robust (with an all steel construction) to reduce the likelihood of your school falling victim to a break in.

The single doors feature a 3 point locking system as standard, and on some models we also have individual locking doors which make the task of stealing multiple laptops ever more challenging and time-consuming – exactly what thieves don’t want.

We also have a choice of locks, including combination locks, digital locks, and key locks – so you can decide which lock is more likely to prevent unauthorised access in the school day.  You can choose lockers that are unlocked with a wristband or with any one of a variety of types of access card, depending on the security level you need.

You can review all the details and see pictures of our LapLockers by visiting the following links – LapLocker8, LapLocker10 and LapLocker15. And you can review all the details and see pictures of our BeSmart Lockers here.

If you have any questions, please do call 01628 666 775 or email me at sales@nuwco.com    And there is more on the Bett Show here.

Online keyboard skills development from the UK’s leading specialists

What provision is your school making for improving your pupils’ keyboard skills?

I expect that, if your school is like most others, you now require your pupils to use a computer for their school work more than ever before.  By learning fast and accurate keyboard skills, pupils work quicker, more confidently and are able to focus more on learning than on text production.  And if pupils are able to type their assignments, their work is more legible for teachers who have to mark them.

Meanwhile, Ofqual has already been making noises about the future computerisation of exams.  When the inevitable happens, and all or most exams are computer based, will your pupils be ready?

As a leading specialist in online keyboard skills training in schools, we can help you.  We have a range of schemes for schools to meet every requirement and every budget – even if you don’t have one!

Our courseware resides in the cloud (i.e., it is Internet based) which means that there is no software to install.  Pupils can use it on any computer with a broadband connection, 24/7, so there is no need to steal time from the school timetable.

All pupils’ progress is tracked, so you can monitor success rates as and when you wish.  And our online service is completely secure – there are no distracting pop-up advertisements and no cookies or other incursions to infiltrate your computers.

Our options include:-

  • A ‘Pay-by-User’ scheme for small numbers of pupils from £6 per head;
  • Annual licence schemes for larger numbers of pupils from just £195 per year;
  • An income generation scheme, ideal if a budget is not available;
  • Electronic typing assessments with customised and personalised certificate;
  • Our ‘total’ service, where we manage and deliver everything for you remotely, from just £595 per year.

We even have a professional course for teachers with the option of online personal tutoring.

Would you like to know more?  If so, please email us with a very brief description of your interest and we will send you a link to our electronic Schools’ Brochure and our Price List.  We would be very glad to hear from you, whether you need keyboard skills training for 1 pupil, or 1001!

Improving the safety and security of your university’s devices

What is the most effective way of improving the safety and security of the laptops, Chromebooks, iPads,
or tablets in your university?

An increasing number of ICT Technicians are finding that by using a plastic charging trolley to house their university’s laptops, Chromebooks, iPads, or tablets, they are better able to guarantee that they are safe and secure.

The ABS charging trolley supplied by NUWCO has a secure locking system, making it difficult for anyone to access it to steal the devices stored inside.

Therefore the difficulty of breaking into the trolley, or even attempting to steal the trolley itself, is a strong deterrent for any potential thief.

In terms of safety, the trolley’s plastic shell (which is, of course, non-conductive) will ensure that electrical faults are isolated at once, so reducing the risk of a student or colleague coming to any harm.

And the plastic construction means that the trolley is 70% lighter than a traditional metal charging trolley, making it much easier to move around and less likely to cause any injury when it is being wheeled from one location to another.

Furthermore, it is also better for the environment as the built-in Power Management system features an energy-saving timer module which will help to reduce your university’s carbon footprint.

Not to mention that the trolley is 100% recyclable.

To review all the details and see the pictures please visit our site at www.nuwco.com

Just choose the device that you think is right for your university, click on that trolley, and you will be able to see a full description, including the dimensions. You will also be able to download the product specification and device compatibility sheet – in fact, everything you need to know.

But if you do have any questions, please do call 01628 666 775 or email me at sales@nuwco.com

Schools are saving money by using eco-friendly technology

Eco-friendly technology that will reduce your school’s carbon footprint and running costs.

The attitude that “for something to be eco-friendly it must be expensive” has become somewhat out-dated – particularly when we consider the advances in eco-friendly technologies over the last decade or so.

In fact, in the modern world eco-friendly technologies are typically much more cost-effective. And eco-friendly charging trolleys for the laptops, Chromebooks, iPads or tablets in your school are no exception to this.

The Power Management system, which is built in to the ABS charging trolleys supplied by NUWCO, features an energy-saving timer module which will help to reduce both your school’s carbon footprint and your school’s running costs.

And to further save your school money, the timer can be set to charge your school’s devices at the time when electricity is at its cheapest, including in the evenings and at the weekends.

What’s more, in the event of a computer or the mains having an electrical fault, the Power Management System and the charging trolley’s plastic shell will ensure that the fault is isolated at once.

Our plastic charging trolley, which is 100% recyclable, also has the added benefit of it being 70% lighter than a traditional metal charging trolley which will of course make the process of moving the trolley around much easier.

To review all the details and see the pictures please visit our site at www.nuwco.com.

Just choose the device that you think is right for you, click on that trolley, and you will be able to see a full description, including the dimensions. You will also be able to download the product specification and device compatibility sheet – in fact, everything you need to know.

The benefits arising from improved typing skills

Students who can touch-type will deliver more accurate, better presented and easier to read work. That will save you and your teaching colleagues’ considerable time in deciphering and marking badly written scripts.

Meanwhile, Ofqual has publicly stated that online exams should replace pen and paper for today’s students. The major awarding bodies have already welcomed this view. When the inevitable happens, students who can type accurately at speed will perform better in tests.

So to improve the keyboard skills of your pupils so that they can type quickly, accurately, effortlessly and safely, then look no further than Type&Test Ltd, the UK’s leading specialists in online touch-typing training and assessment.

Whatever your budget for this activity – or even if you don’t have one – we have a solution for you!  Our range of options even includes an income generation scheme.

Simply click here to reply to this email using the subject line ‘Improved typing skills’ and we will email you a link to our Schools Brochure.

When the School of Education Administration launched its School Efficiency courses no one quite knew which efficiencies schools would report.

But now we’ve seen it in action, and the savings schools are making are really extraordinary.

Among the most dramatic savings being achieved through efficiencies are those made to school meals arrangements, the way photocopying is organised, IT provision, school cleaning contracts and the movement to an automated text system.

The next 10 week Certificate in School Efficiency course (taught by distance learning) closes its intake of students on 11th May. The course commences on 21st May. It costs £249 plus VAT.

The next one year Diploma in School Efficiency course will also close its intake of students on 11th May with the course commencing on 21st May 2012.

There are still some places available on both courses.
