… it is French grammar that is perhaps the most difficult of concepts for children to grasp – not least due to the gender classification of words. But despite this, there is very little guidance in the Programmes of Study about how grammar should be taught:
| “Pupils should be taught to understand basic grammar appropriate to the language being studied, including (where relevant): feminine, masculine and neuter forms and the conjugation of high-frequency verbs; key features and patterns of language; how to apply these, for instance, to build sentences; and how these differ from or are similar to English.” |
